Legal aid for immigration: what's covered

Quebec Legal Aid (Commission des services juridiques) provides free or low-cost representation for certain immigration files.

•Basis of Claim (BOC) form preparation

•RPD (Refugee Protection Division) representation

•RAD (Refugee Appeal Division) appeal

•PRRA (Pre-Removal Risk Assessment) application

•IAD (Immigration Appeal Division) appeals

•Certain judicial reviews

•Permanent residence applications (except emergency cases)

•Work permits

•Student visas

•Citizenship

Single person: annual income below approximately $22,000

Family of 2: below approximately $31,000

Family of 4: below approximately $42,000

If your income slightly exceeds the thresholds, you may still be eligible with a contribution.
